Chemistry Department Educational Visit – 2024

Dunicliff Chemical Society, Chemistry Department, Khalsa College Amritsar organised a one-day visit on 5^th of April to IISER (Indian Institute of Science Education & Research), Mohali. Students of M.Sc. Chemistry/ (HS) Chemistry Semester II & IV and of B.Sc. Med/Non-Med Semester VI were accompanied by Dr. Kirandeep Kaur and Dr. Omish Sethi (Co-ordinators). Students got to visit the instrumentation facilities which includes the latest and advanced instruments for research in areas aligned to the Chemical Researches. Familiarizing the students with the basic introduction of the learning environment of the institute through a video, students got the chance to understand the concepts and fundamentals for research programs. Providing with the Principles, working and handling of sophisticated instruments, students were given detailed demonstrations of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectrometer, High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Atomic Absorption Double Layer Spectra, UV Spectrometer, IR Spectrometer and many more. A tour was also provided of BS/MS Labs. Last but not the least students visited the Raising Innovative & Sustainable Enterprise (i-Rise) - Technology Business incubator, that is working to transform and build a deep impact across the start-up ecosystem through innovation knowledge and technology adoption. The sole purpose of the visit was to increase the student’s vision in research and with the new advanced equipment used in field. In the due course of full day visit they got the practical exposure along with the acquaintance of latest developments in research.
