Activities of Journalism Department

DEPARTMENT OF JOURNALISM & MASS COMMUNICATION ACTIVITIES (JULY2015 TO SEPTEMBER 2015)

1.Department of Journalism & Mass Communication hosted a show ‘Pakka Ambarsariya’ organized by 92.7 Big FM on August 20, 2015. Team from Big FM visited the department and shortlisted two students for finale to be held on the 8th Anniversary of the FM.

Department of Journalism & Mass Communication organized One-day workshop on ‘Studio & Anchoring’ on August 25th, 2015. Gurjit Singh, anchor and actor with PTC Channel acquainted the students of the department with the structure of a TV studio and its functioning. The workshop concluded in three sessions. In the first session the resource person discussed the Do’s and Dont’s of television anchoring with the students. He discussed the intricacies of electronic media with the students also answered their questions regarding the scope of anchoring with different television channels. In the second session the resource person made the students understand the concepts by sharing his on-screen videos with them. He also gave some tips to the students. The concluding session observed the question answer round in which the students asked about their doubts regarding the studio and the field.

3.Department of Journalism & Mass Communication organized one day workshop on ‘Film Making- Script to Screen’ on September 2, 2015 in collaboration with GAFA Innovation Productions, Amritsar. The workshop concluded in three sessions. In the first session Mr. Lovedeep, Director, GAFA, acquainted the students with the pre production of a film and documentary. In the second session Arun teji, Director of Photography discussed the camera techniques and lighting involved in the production of a film. In the third session Nitin Mahajan, Editor, GAFA, discussed the diting techniques including FCP (Final Cut Pro) and Adobe Premier with the students. The students also made a short film on ‘Acid Attacks’ after attending the workshop.
