Educational Trip of M.Sc (Botany) Semester IV students to Kanjli Wetland, Rail Coach factory and Science City, Kapurthala

Botanical Society, P.G. Department of Botany, Khalsa College Amritsar organized one day trip for M.Sc. Botany IV semester students to KanjliWetlant, PushpaGujral Science City and Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala on 30-03-2017. This tour intended to create awareness amongst students regarding rich biodiversity of Kanjali Wetland, which was constructed in 1870 at Kapurthala, district of Punjab State across the perennial Bien River. Kanjlilake is designated as internationally important according to Ramsar Convention in 2000. During this visit students collected distinct species of certain hydrophytes and mesophytes and took photographs of various terrestrial plants. Students got acquaintance with the religious significance of Kanjlilake, where ist Guru of Sikh went missing for 3 days. Students also visited PushpaGujral Science City, where students enjoyed movie in semi giant dome screens and explore theatre. The large format film about space exploration by Scientist educated and enlightened the students as much as it entertained. The group of 32 students accompanied by Head of the Deptt., Prof. Kirandeep Kaur and teachers-Dr. Heminder Singh, Dr. NavkiranRandhawa and Dr. Sushant Sharma
