The Botanical and Environment Science Society and P.G. Deptt. of Botany, Khalsa College Amritsar organized Amritsar Flower Show "Spring 2022" from 5-9 March, 2022
Keeping up the tradition of celebrating spring every year, the Botanical and Environment Science Society and Post Graduate Department of Botany, Khalsa College Amritsar organized a five day "Amritsar Flower Show Spring-2022" from 5-9th March, 2022. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Mehal Singh, Principal, Khalsa College Amritsar where he encouraged the participants to uptake gardening activities as flowers symbolize harmony and teach us to bloom in every condition. Prof. Kirandeep Kaur Hundal, Head, P.G. Deptt of Botany extended warm welcome to all the participants. She focused on the importance of flowers on how they reduce stress levels and anxiety and fill us with happy hormones. About 500 participants from various Khalsa institutes, nurseries, home gardeners and NGO's competed in different plant categories viz flowering plants, foliage plants, succulents/cacti, indoor/air-purifying plants, medicinal plants and bonsai. The participants also competed in poster competition on topics "Plants of Medicinal Use" and "Floriculture & Landscaping. A model making competition on aeroponics, hydroponics and plant tissue culture was also organized alongwith. The students participated in individual as well as group entries. The competition was evaluated by an expert committee and the prizes were distributed on the last day of the event to Khalsa College for Women, Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology, Khalsa College of Nursing, Khalsa College Chawinda Devi, Khalsa College of Pharmacy, Khalsa College International Public School, Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School Jandiala Guru, Khalsa College Public School, Khalsa College Senior Secondary School for Girls, Khalsa College Senior Secondary School for Boys, KMV Jalandhar and home gardeners. Eminent personalities including S. Rajinder Mohan Singh Chinna, Honorary Secretary, Khalsa College Amritsar, Dr. Davinder Sharma, Food Policy Analyst and writer, Dr. Balwinder Lakhewali, Project Director ATMA, Deputy Director PAMETI, PAU Ludhiana and Dr. M.S. Bhatti also visited the flower show. The members of organizing committee, Dr. Harjinder Singh, Dr. Madhu, Dr. Rajbir Singh, Dr. Prabhjit Kaur, Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Dr. Sushant Sharma, Dr. Maninder Kaur, Dr. Harsimran Kaur, Dr. Sandeep Kaur and
Dr. Pardeep Kaur, Prof Manmeet Kaur were present during the event. The flower show was a hit amongst the residents of city Amritsar, who visited the event in large number every day.
