Student Startups and Innovations in Food Product Development on dated 18.04.2025
P G Department of Food Science and Technology organized one day exhibition on Student Startups and Innovations in Food Product Development on dated 18.04.2025 in the Food Processing Laboratory, Skill Development Centre, Khalsa College Amritsar. Dr. Atam Singh Randhawa, Principal Khalsa College Amritsar inaugurated this exhibition. During this exhibition Dr. Taminder Singh Bhatia, DAA, Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Dean Research, Dr. M S Batra, Director Skill, Dr. Kamaljit Kaur, HOD Department of Biotechnology and Prof. Jasmeet Kaur, HOD Department of Fashion Designing graced this event with their presence.
Dr. Atam Singh Randhawa, Principal Khalsa College Amritsar lauded the efforts done by the students for making innovative food products during this exhibition. Dr. Atam Singh, addressed the students and briefed that Student-led startups are the forefront of innovation in food product development, blending creativity, sustainability, and technology to address the modern dietary needs. Students from BFST (Hons.) Semester IV and VI made a number of innovative food products like Sattu cookies, carrot cake, cornrolls, pizza, croissant, millet balls, fruit jelly cake, orange zest cookies, etc.
Student-led startups significantly contribute to the evolution of food product development by integrating sustainability, technology, and cultural relevance. These innovations address contemporary challenges such as health, environmental impact, and food security. With continued support, these young entrepreneurs can shape the future of the food industry.
Sensory evaluation of all the innovative food products was done critically by the dignitaries and were well applauded. At the end the winning teams were given batches by Dr. Taminder Singh, DAA.
Dr. Gursharan Kaur, Head, Department of Food Science and Technology gave introduction about the exhibition and introduced all the students to the dignitaries. Dr. Sandeep Singh from Food Science and Technology Department gave vote of thanks at the last. This exhibition was attended by all the faculty members and students of Food Science and Technology Department.
