Inter College Flower Show, "Spring-2021" 2-5^th March 2021

Keeping up the tradition of celebrating Spring every year, The Botanical Society, P.G. Deptt. of Botany, Khalsa College, Amritsar under the guidance of Prof. Kirandeep Kaur Hundal  organized "Inter College Flower Show "Spring 2021" from 2^nd- 5^th  March, 2021. The function was inaugurated by S. Rajinder Mohan Singh Chinna, Honorary Secretary, Khalsa College Amritsar and Dr. Mehal Singh, Principal, Khalsa College Amritsar. Dr. Rajbir Singh, Organizing secretary of the event gave a warm welcome and introduced the guests with the plants displayed during the event which are grown as ornamentals and some of them are being in use as medicinal, essences and flavorings agents. Dr. Mehal Singh encouraged the students to grow more ornamental plants in their home gardens as these are symbols of harmony and teach us to bloom in every condition. He also told that flowers are the major ideation of poets to express their emotions and to fill colors in their writings. About 400 participants from various institutions, Home Gardeners, Nurseries and NGOs participated in the flower show ‘Spring-2021’ by competing with their entries in various categories viz. Flowering plants, Foliage plants, Succulents and Bonsai. The prizes were distributed to the winners and certificate of participation were distributed to all the participants. During this period various school/college students/ teachers also visited the flower show as well as departmental laboratories. They got exposure with the Herbarium, Museum specimens and laboratory instrumentation in P.G. Deptt. of Botany. Dr. Harjinder Singh, Dr. Madhu, Dr. Rajbir Singh, Dr. Prabhjit Kaur, Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Dr. Sushant Sharma, Dr. Maninder Kaur Prof. Ramandeep Kaur present during the event.
