Punjab Agricultural University signed MoU with Khalsa College Amritsar for berseem seed production on 6th Feb., 2018


The supply of good quality fodder seed is a key factor for boosting the dairy farming. In Punjab, berseem is being cultivated on an area of about 2.27 lakh hactare and timely supply of good quality, disease free seed is a challenge.  The worthy Vice-Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana Dr. B.S. Dhillon and Dr. Mehal Singh, Principal, Khalsa College Amritsar took an initiative to sign MoU between the institutions for berseem seed production. As per memorandum, good quality of berseem seed of improved variety BL 42 of PAU will be produced on Agricultural Farm of Khalsa College, Amritsar and will be marketed by PAU, Ludhiana to fulfil the demand of quality seed of dairy farmers. In this context, Dr. N.S. Bains, Director of Research and Dr. Tarsem Singh Dhillon, Assoc. Director (Seeds), Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Dr. Gurbax Singh, Assoc. Professor (Agronomy) and Dr. Kawaljit Singh, Asstt. Professor (Agronomy), Khalsa College Amritsar signed MoU on 6th Feb., 2018 for production of berseem seed at Agricultural Farm of Khalsa College, Amritsar and ensured to extend all possible help to each other. On this occasion Dr. K.S. Thind, Additional Director of Research (Crop Improvement), Dr. Ashok Kumar, Additional Director of Research  (Farm Mechanisation & Bio-energy) and Dr. S.S. Chahal, Adjunt Professor (Technology Marketing & IPR Cell) were also present.
