The P.G. Department of Commerce & Business Administration, Khalsa College Amritsar, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), successfully organized a “Business Plans Competition” on February 22, 2025. The event was planned and executed under the guidance of Principal Dr. A. K. Kahlon, along with Dr. Sawraj Kaur (Coordinator) and Dr. Manisha Behal, Prof. Sheetal and Prof. Tushar Batra (Co-Coordinators).
The competition aimed to encourage entrepreneurial thinking among students by providing them with a platform to showcase their innovative business ideas. Principal Dr. A. K. Kahlon emphasized the critical role of entrepreneurship in today’s competitive business environment and encouraged students to develop innovative solutions that contribute to economic growth.
Dr. Sawraj Kaur (Coordinator) appreciated the efforts of both the participants and the organizers, urging students to actively engage in such events to enhance their business acumen and problem-solving skills. Dr. Gursharan Kaur (IIC, President) and Dr. Deepak Devgan served as judges for the competition. Dr. Gursharan Kaur motivated students to participate in these competitions to develop interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and other essential soft skills. Further, Dr. Deepak Devgan highlighted that such events inspire entrepreneurial thinking among students, emphasizing the importance of an entrepreneurial mindset for those aspiring to become entrepreneurs.
A total of 24 students forming nine teams from the commerce department participated in the competition, presenting innovative business plans aimed at solving contemporary market challenges. The event’s broadcasting was efficiently managed by Prof. Meenu Chopra and Dr. Navpreet Kaur.
Team no. 8 (Simar Kaur and Mantaj Kaur) presented home décor with crocia won 1st Prize, Team no. 7 (Randeep, Rishabh, Jaskaran Singh and Prabindeep Singh) presented games won 2nd Prize and Team no. 3 (Sneh) presented home bake cakes won 3rd Prize in the competition.
The event’s success was made possible by the dedicated contributions of the co-coordinators. Dr. Manisha Behal and Prof. Sheetal actively mentored participants, offering them strategic guidance, while Prof. Tushar Batra efficiently managed logistical aspects, ensuring the smooth execution of the event.
The Business Plans Competition concluded on an inspiring note, encouraging students to continue developing their entrepreneurial skills and innovative thinking. The event marked another significant step in Khalsa College Amritsar’s commitment to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students.
