The Khalsa College Amritsar organised  Seminar on ‘‘Awareness and Action against Corruption’’ under Vigilance Awareness Week Programme (28th October 2024 to 3rd November, 2024)   in collaboration with Vigilance Bureau, Range Amritsar  on 30th  October 2024.The programme was planned and executed under the supervision of  Dr. A. K Kahlon  (Principal and  Programme Chairperson) and Dr. Ajay Sehgal (Programme Coordinator). The Vigilance Awareness Week is being observed with the theme “Culture of Integrity for Nation's Prosperity”. The chief guest of the programme was S. Gursewak Singh Brar, SSP, Vigilance Bureau, and Range Amritsar. S. Surinder Singh, DSP, VB and S. Inderjit Singh, Inspector, VB were Guests of Honour.

 Dr. A. K Kahlon (Principal) extended floral welcome to the chief guests. She highlighted that this vigilance awareness programme aims at awareness building and outreach measure which aims to bring together all the youth to create greater sensitivity about the need for ethics and transparency in governance and public administration.

Dr. Ajay Sehgal (Assistant Professor & Programme Coordinator) introduced the distinguished guests and encouraged all the students to collectively participate in the prevention of, and the fight against corruption and to raise public awareness regarding the threat posed by corruption.

S. Gursewak Singh Brar, SSP addressed the students ‘‘Vigilance Awareness Week is one of the Participative Vigilance initiatives of the Central Vigilance Commission in the fight against corruption.. It endeavors to promote integrity and eradicate corruption with the active support and participation of all citizens. For the past three years, there has been a campaign in the run up to the week with preventive vigilance initiatives as focus areas. Every year Vigilance Awareness Week is observed in the week in which the birthday of Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel falls in.’’

S. Inderjit Singh, Inspector, VB encouraged all the students to uphold this principle, stressing that silence should never be an option when witnessing unethical practices. He urged the students to promptly report any instances of bribery to the concerned officials, reinforcing a culture of accountability and transparency that strengthens the organizations and contributes to the nation’s progress. He also shared the contact numbers of the concerned officials with the students for prompt reporting.

Dr. Ajay Sehgal extended vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and participants. Dr. Taminder singh Bhatia (Dean Academic Affairs), Dr. Devender Singh (Registrar), Dr. Sawraj Kaur, Dr. Deepak Devgan, Dr. Poonam Sharma and other faculty members of Commerce department were present during the programme. Prof. Meenu Chopra and Dr. Harpreet Kaur took over the charge of broadcasting of the event.
