Visit to Rajaji National Park, Dehradun Dehradun-Mussorie Trip (March 30 – April 3, 2022)


The trip was organized by P.G. Department of Zoology for 4 days from 30th March to 3rd April, 2022. The journey started on 30th March at 9 pm from Amritsar railway junction and reached Dehradun Railway junction at 10 am (31st March, 2022). The students and faculty members stayed at guest house of Doon University. The trip began by visiting “Raja ji National Park” in the Afternoon. Rajaji National Park is an Indian national park and tiger reserve that encompasses the Shivaliks, near the foothills of the Himalayas. It is spread over 820 km2 and includes three districts of UttarakhandHaridwarDehradun and Pauri Garhwal. In 1983, three wildlife sanctuaries in the area namely, Chilla, Motichur and Rajaji were merged into one. 

At Raja ji National Park, stusents had a safari ride and they saw footprints of leopard and some other animals and witnessed a very mesmerizing peacock dance, deer and other animals. The next morning which was the 2nd day of the trip they went off for Mussorie in the morning at 8 am. The next destination was kempty fall where swimming was done by the trip members. After that they went to Mussorie mall road and had shopping. They went to “Gun Hill Point”, the place from where the whole mountain of Mussorie was visible. Next day (3rd April, 2022) in the morning firstly they had breakfast at local restaurant and then they went to “Forest Research Institute”. They saw many research related museum galleries, they gained a lot of knowledge. They came back to Dehradun railway station at 7 pm and reached back to Amritsar railway station at 9 am (4th April). It was the most memorable and enjoyable moment of the trip.
