NSS Activities 2019-20


 

NSS units always aim at inculcating a spirit of social welfare among students and sensitise them towards nation building. During this period the students got a number of opportunities to participate in a number of programmes being organized by NSS units from time to time including major drives like tree plantation, vaccination awareness and motivation, literacy, agricultural development, cleanliness drives.

National Yoga Day

About 200 volunteers participated in National Yoga Day on 21-06-2019. At a time when the youth is at cross roads caught between the fast moving technologies of social media and lack of physical activities, many problems have emerged in the face of stress and anxiety that effect mental health and physical well-being. In such a scenario, the right balance needs to be maintained between mental and physical health. Keeping in view of above National Yoga Day was celebrated on 21-06-2019.

Sadbhawna Oath

Sadbhawna Oath, for social wellbeing, was taken by around 200 volunteers on 20- 08-2019.

Swachh Bharat Mission and "No Polythene drive”

200 Students of NSS observed Swachh Bharat Mission on 25-08-2019 and "No Polythene drive” and motivated neighbourhood. All the volunteers participated with full zeal in cleanliness drive.

Tree Plantation Drive

A Tree plantation drive was organized on 29-08-2019 in which more than 150 trees were planted by the volunteers in the nearby areas. 100 volunteers participated in this event. The students along with the faculty members planted saplings in the Botanical garden and college campus. The saplings of Neem, Ashoka, Moringa, Citrus, Guava, Sapota and various ornamental and medicinal plants were planted during the drive.

YuWaah-Pride

YuWaah-Pride on 21.06.2019: 100 NSS volunteers participated in YuWaah-Pride survey conducted by State Government. In Punjab, YuWaah has galvanized a network of national and local civil society organisations as well as private sector entities to revitalise and advance the socio-economic aspirations of the young people of the state. Pride of Punjab’ programme, a joint initiative of the government of Punjab, UNICEF and YuWaah on 21.06.2019.
