NSS ACTIVITIES 2021-22

Khalsa College Amritsar is running four NSS units of 100 volunteers each, which are being coordinated by Dr. Jasjit Kaur Randhawa (NSS Incharge), Dr. Zorawar Singh, Dr. Sandeep Singh and Dr. Poonam Sharma (Programme Officers). Students always get a number of opportunities to participate in a number of programmes being organized by NSS units from time to time including tree plantation drives, health check-up camps, literacy drives, agricultural development, cleanliness drives and voting campaign drives. NSS units always aim at inculcating a spirit of social welfare among students and sensitise them towards nation building. 400 students became the part of NSS units as NSS volunteers for this session. Students participated in all the NSS activities in full swing. All the major days and drives including tree plantation, vaccination awareness and motivation, literacy, agricultural development and cleanliness drives were celebrated.

Clean Village, Green Village

A special interactive session was held under the programme “Clean Village, Green Village” on 26th October, 2021 with Mrs. Harinder Kaur, Regional Director, NSS, Chandigarh for spreading awareness among students for social working and wellbeing.

Online Orientation Training on “#YoungWarrior”

A special zoom meeting organized by UNICEF was attended by NSS programme officers on 22nd July, 2021 regarding orientation training on “#YoungWarrior”

"Swachhta Pakhwada" Observation Week

Many students generated awareness about hygienic conditions for children during growing years during "Swachhta Pakhwada" observation weeks from August 1-15, 2021. Celebrating the 75th year of Independence, about 100 NSS volunteers recited and uploaded National Anthem and received certificates for the same.

Rashrti Ekta Divas

Rashrti Ekta Divas was celebrated on 31st October 2021. An online pledge was taken by more than 200 students regarding National Harmony. National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is celebrated on October 31 every year to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. All the NSS Programmee Officers were present during the event. NSS Programmee co-ordinator Dr. Jasjit Kaur Randhawa said that the objective behind this event was to make the students aware of the nation's unity and to spread awareness about Patel's contribution to Indian history

Communal Harmony Campaign Week

Communal Harmony Campaign Week was celebrated from 19-25 November 2021. 100 students participated in this event.

Flag Day

25th November 2021 was celebrated as the Flag Day. Principal Dr. Mehal Singh took part in this event and he emphasized the importance of observing Flag Day. He said Flag Day is dedicated to the services of Armed personnels.

Earth Day

The Earth day is observed on April 22 in order to create awareness amongst students about pollution and to celebrate the environment of the blue planet. The programme coordinator Dr. Jasjit Kaur Randhawa said to the students to learn about the climate crisis and how ways to tackle it.
