Seven Days Workshop on Handling and Operation of Bioreactor for Industrial Applications


The P.G. Department of Biotechnology at Khalsa College, Amritsar conducted a comprehensive one-week workshop on the "Handling and Operation of Bioreactor for Industrial Applications" from November 4th to 10th, 2023. The workshop was inaugurated by the Head of the Department, Dr. Kamaljit Kaur It was conducted by the subject expert Dr. Mukesh Chandar, Assistant Professor, P.G. Department of Biotechnology, Khalsa College, Amritsar. It was attended by28 graduate and post-graduate students from Biotechnology and Food Technology departments. The workshop highlighted the upstream and downstream processing of bioprocess with live hand on training to all the participants. The students were demonstrated with Single Cell Proteins (SCPs) production using a batch bioreactor.

The workshop concluded with a valedictory function graced by presence of the Principal of the college, Dr. Mehal Singh ji, esteemed guests Dr. Taminder Singh (Dean, Academic Affairs), and Dr. Harvinder Kaur, (Dean, Sciences). The head in her address encouraged the students to seize such opportunities. Principal sahib admired the department’s effort to provide skill development training to students and ensured to provide his full support for such future endeavors. Moving further, the principal ji inspired attendees to pursue such workshops to acquire industrial expertise. He also motivated students to consider entrepreneurship as a viable career path. Dr. Mukesh Chander discussed the minutes of entire event and thanked all the concerned for successful completion of this workshop. He elaborated in brief the objectives and learning outcomes of the individual experiments performed. The students shared their overwhelming satisfaction during the feedback session counting the grand success of this event. The workshop proved instrumental in bridging theoretical knowledge with practical applications, fostering a spirit of innovation and experiential learning among the aspiring minds.
