Biotechnology Society of P.G. department of Biotechnology, organised a two day multi-event science extravaganza entitled, Excelsia -2022 on 6th to 7th April, 2022.


The Khalsa College, Amritsar is a premier and reputed educational institute of North India. Under the patronage and able guidance of our worthy principal Dr. Mehal Singh ji, Biotechnology Society of P.G. department of Biotechnology, organised a two day multi-event science extravaganza entitled, “Excelsia -2022” on 6th – 7th April, 2022. This is the third seminar in career guidance series. The function was presided over by our worthy principal Dr. Mehal Singh ji. Dr. Kamaljit Kaur, Head of department, formally welcomed Principal Ji, Dr. Taminder Bhatia, Prof Devender Singh ji, Ms. Jahnabee and other honourables.She orated the citation and curriculum vitae of Ms. Jahnabee. Dr. Mehal Singh ji welcomed the guest speaker and highlighted the role of science festivals and participation of students in such activities for their all-round personal, social and professional development. The guest of honour, Ms. Jahnabee Devi, Clinical Business Manager, Nestle, India, a dynamic and young entrepreneur who with the background of Medical Biotechnology, raised a carrier over last few years to become a career guide, motivational speaker and business development officer, enlightened the students about career prospects in biotechnology through her lecture entitled, “Breaking the Glass Ceiling- Opportunities in Biotechnology”. She gave a detailed talk on scope of Biotechnology in field of pharma, food, medical diagnostics, technology analyst, and the job prospects for Biotechnology students in these fields. She shared her live and field experiences with the students and gave them useful tips for opting for a good career by understanding their inert potential, likes and preferences to the types of job they like. She interacted with the students and answered their queries during discussion to suggest best options regarding their future career.
A total of sixty two teams out of about 200 participants from different science departments participated in the six events on themes of Bio-script, Talk a poem, Bio-art, BT-garden, Bio-post etc. A mega cultural event was also organised by the students of department. The cultural items of Gidha, Bhangra, Play, Classical songs were the events of day. Dr. Balwinder Singh gave vote of thanks to the speaker and other dignitaries. The function was organised by Dr. Mukesh Chander, Dr. Amanpreet Kaur Sidhu, and Dr. Madhvi Sharma and attended by all the teaching and non-teaching staff of the department.
