One day trip to Harike wetland (Feb 4, 2019)

The Zoological Society, P.G. Department of Zoology organized a One day educational trip to Harike wetland to celebrate wetland day. Harike wetland is one of the Ramsar sites of wetlands in Punjab. A Ramsar site is a wetland site designated to be of international importance under the Ramsar Convention, also known as The Convention on Wetlands; an intergovernmental environmental treaty established in 1971 by UNESCO, which came into force in 1975. It provides for national action and international cooperation regarding the conservation of wetlands, and wise sustainable use of their resources. About 45 students of M.Sc. (Zoology) along with the faculty members visited the wetland. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the students with the biodiversity of the region.
