Celebration of “Successful Landing of Chandrayan-III in South Pole of the Moon” on September 14, 2023


 

With the blessings of Almighty, Institution’s Innovation Council, Khalsa College Amritsar celebrated “Successful Landing of Chandrayan-III in South Pole of the Moon” as per instructions of Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, Govt. of India of under the dynamic leadership of Principal Dr. Mehal Singh.On this occasion, Poster and Model making competition on the above theme was organised in the department of Physics and Invited talk by Dr. Atul Khanna Professor & Head, Department of Physics Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar, was also organised in Seminar Hall of Sikh History Research DepartmentRegistration of the Poster and Model making Competition started at 10:30 A.M in Physics Department. More than 40 students of B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons.) M.Sc. & M.Sc. (Hons.) classes of science stream participated in the Poster & Model Making Competition.

Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh and Dr. Joga Singh, Innovative Activity Coordinators, IIC welcomed the guest and all the participants in the invited Talk.Invited talkstarted with the Shabad Recitation by Physics department students. Dr. Mehal Singh (Principal, Khalsa College Amritsar),Dr. Taminder Singh (DAA & Director IQAC), Dr. Amit Anand (President, IIC), Dr. Harvinder Kaur (Dean Sciences &Head, Physics Department), all Heads, faculty & students of Science departments were present during this event.

Dr. Mehal Singh formally welcomed the guest & participants. He motivated the students to take part in innovative science activities. Dr. Taminder Singh introduced about constitution of Institution’s Innovation Council(IIC) in the college as per guidelines of Ministry of Education, Govt. of India and different activities to be conducted in future under this cell.

Dr. Atul Khanna, Professor & Head, Department of Physics Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar was the invited speaker on this occasion. He delivered his talk on the topic of Chandrayan-III Mission.He discussed how the Indian scientist achieved this mission of successful softlanding of Chandrayan-III in South Pole of Moon. He also discussed about the Vikram lander and Pragyan Rover and their communication. About180 students & faculty members were present during this event.

 

Poster and Model Making competition winners were awarded with certificates and mementoes byGuest Speaker Dr. Atul Khanna,Dr. Taminder Singh, Dean Academics Affairs, Dr. Amit Anand President, IIC, Dr Harvinder Kaur, Dean Sciences & Heads of different departments.
