The P.G. Department of Political Science and Public Administration organized a Guest Lecture on “Seeking Greener Pastures: Punjabi Culture of Migration & It’s Impact on Social Fabric” on April 05, 2024 in the college seminar hall. Dr. Christine Moliner, Associate Professor, Jindal Global University was the resource person. The functions started with the College Shabad. Dr. Taminder Singh Bhatia, Dean Academic Affairs of the College formally welcomed the Guest Speaker. Dr. Gurvel Singh Malhi introduced Dr. Moliner to the audience. In her talk, she extensively discussed various push and pull factors driving the current phase of migration in general and from Punjab to Canada in particular. She categorically presented the historical perspective of Punjabi migration tracing its origin to pre-colonial period. She further discussed the consequences of migration both in the countries of origin and destination. In her final remarks, she appealed the students to make decision of moving out vigilantly. During the interactive session, Dr. Moliner answered all the queries raised by the students and faculty members. In the end, Prof. Jaspreet Kaur, Head, Department of Political Science extended the vote of thanks. The faculty members from the Department of Political Science and other departments of the college were present at this occasion.
