The invited talk by Dr. Palwinder Singh, Professor and Head of Department at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, was organized by the P.G. Department of Chemistry at Khalsa College, Amritsar, on 26/10/2024. The lecture was hosted by the Dunnicliff Chemical Society, Department of Chemistry, and began at 10:30 AM. Dr. A.K. Kahlon, the Principal of Khalsa College, Amritsar, and Dr. Taminder Singh, the Dean of Academics, welcomed Prof. Palwinder Singh and expressed their gratitude to him. The Welcome Note's purpose was to introduce the speaker, set the tone for the lecture, and extend a warm welcome to all attendees. Dr. Amit Anand, the Head of the Department of Chemistry, also welcomed Prof. Singh. The title of the talk was "Biocatalysis: A Tool for Drug Discovery, with a Spotlight on the Journey of Drug Molecules. The session aimed to shed light on the significance of chemistry in drug design. The speaker discussed a wide range of methods and strategies to keep in mind while designing a drug along with a positive interactive session with students.
Overall, the lecture was insights into how chemistry underpins the design of new therapeutic agents, emphasizing the strategic use of enzymes to enhance chemical transformations in drug development.
