NSS ACTIVITIES JUNE 2024 ONWARDS
1) NSS Units of Khalsa College Amritsar organized a One Day Seminar on Union Budget on 23-7-2024. The main theme of the program was to aware the students about the concept and various terms related with Union Budget. Dr Seozy Bhatia, PG Department of Economics organized an event where more than 70 students participated in the event and gained knowledge.
2) NSS Units of Khalsa College Amritsar organized One day seminar on student health on 7-8-2024 under the leadership of Dr Zorawar Singh, Dr Seozy Bhatia and Prof. Gurpreet Singh. Dr Varinder Kaur, Assistant Professor in Physiotherapy, addressed the students in the seminar. Her lecture focussed on promoting physical, mental and emotional wellbeing among the students.
3) NSS unit of Khalsa college, Amritsar observed HIV Awareness day on 28-7-2024 at the Department of Zoology to engage NSS volunteer students to work together for HIV/AIDS education, prevention, treatment, care and support and to reduce and eliminate stigma and discrimination. A lecture was delivered by Dr Amandeep Singh, Assistant Professor, and Zoology about the preventive measures of AIDS.
4) Drug awareness as day was celebrated on 29-7-2024 by NSS unit of Khalsa College, Amritsar. A lecture was given to students and awareness was created about this menace.
5) NSS Units of Khalsa College Amritsar celebrated Independence Day on 15-8-2024 in the college. Principal Dr. Mehal Singh told the students that this day marks the culmination of a prolonged struggle led by freedom fighters of India. Independence Day celebrates justice, equality and self-determination. Dr Zorawar Singh, Incharge NSS, said that this day should be celebrated as it marks a historic milestone with the nation honouring the sacrifices of freedom fighters. The celebration included flag distribution among students. Dr Harbias Singh, NCC Incharge and Dr GS Malhi, Incharge, Rotaract Club were also present at the event.
6) NSS Units of Khalsa College Amritsar celebrated National Space day on 23-8-2024 with the success of Chandrayaan-3 mission. Dr Sandeep Singh delivered a lecture highlighting the importance of this special day and encouraged students to develop a scientific aptitude.
7) A One day lecture was organized in the Department of Zoology on the topic “Student Health “. The lecture emphasized on the ways to enhance the health parameters of the students. Apart from the lecture, students also shared their views on the present sanitary conditions and discussed various remedial measures to be opted by the students. More than 50 students attended the lecture.
8) The Theme of Plant more trees was celebrated in the main grounds of Khalsa College, Amritsar by the students of NSS. In this event students were sensitized about the importance of planting trees in the present scenario of pollution and bad environmental conditions.
9) Literacy day was celebrated on 16-9-2024 by NSS unit of Khalsa College, Amritsar. In this event, students visited the library to know about the processes of curation in the library. The students practically explored books by online library resource software. More than 50 students participated in the event and gained knowledge.
10) Environmental Rangoli making was organized by Department of Zoology in collaboration with NSS unit of Khalsa College, Amritsar on 17-9-2024. It was to sensitise the students about the Swachhta hi sewa campaign. More than 30 students participated in the campaign and exhibited rangoli also.
11) Municipal Corporation invited NSS programme officers to the meeting with an agenda of Surface Water project on 3-9-2024. The programme officers of various colleges were present in the meeting and talked about the present sanitary conditions in Amritsar and the various methods to be adopted for tackling them. The project manager of the Surface Water project emphasized the role of this project in providing clean and safe drinking water to the people of Amritsar.
12) Anti-Ragging day was observed by NSS Unit of Khalsa College, Amritsar on 14-8-2024. More than 100 students participated in the event. The students hold a rally throughout the college campus creating awareness about the menace of ragging.
13) Swachhta hi sewa 2024 campaign was organised on 17-9-2024 by NSS units of Khalsa College, Amritsar
14) The NSS Unit of Khalsa College, Amritsar organized a declamation on the theme “Water Conservation on 17 October, 2024 under the leadership of Dr Zorawar Singh, Dr Sandeep, Dr Seozy Bhatia and Prof. Gurpreet Singh. Many students participated and gave views on the vital topic of Water Conservation. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of conserving water for the next generations.
15) One day seminar on Food and Health was held on 12-2-2025 by NSS Unit of Khalsa College, Amritsar. More than 30 students participated in an event where awareness was generated on this important issue.
16) One day Awareness programme on Energy conservation was held by NSS volunteers in Khalsa College, Amritsar on 18-2-2025. Many teachers and students participated in this event.
17) One day blood donation camp was organized by NSS at Medical Health centre near Physiotherapy department in the college campus on 07-03-2025. Dr Zorawar Singh, Dr Seozy Bhatia, Dr. Gurpreet Singh and Dr Sandeep Singh were there to organize this event wghich went successfully and more than 40 students and teachers donated for this service.
18) International Women’s day was celebrated by Department of Economics and English in collaboration with NSS unit of Khalsa College, Amritsar on 08-03-2025. Lecture on Mai Bhago Ji was given by Prof Harmandeep Singh from Department of English, Khalsa College, Amritsar. More than 50 students participated and discussed various issues relating to women empowerment .Dr Seozy Bhatia and Dr Gurpreet Singh coordinated the event.
