The Commerce Society of PG Department of Commerce and Business Administration, Khalsa College Amritsar, successfully organizedComm-Fest on 22nd February, 2025. The event was meticulously planned and executed under the esteemed supervision of Dr. A. K. Kahlon (Principal) and Dr. Deepak Devgan (Co-Convenor). The chief guest of the event was Mrs. Ratinder Kaur Sidhu, IRS, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Amritsar.
The event commenced with a warm floral welcome extended by Dr. A. K. Kahlon (Principal), Dr. Taminder Singh Bhatia (Dean Academic Affairs) and Dr. Devender Singh (Registrar) to the chief guest, Mrs. Ratinder Kaur Sidhu. In her address, Mrs. Sidhu shared her experiences as a former commerce student and motivated students to strive for excellence in their career. She enthused the students to study in India, to serve India rather than going abroad and also enthused the students to go for civil services examination.
Principal Dr. A. K. Kahlon appreciated the efforts of the department and emphasized that such events provide a stimulating environment for the holistic development of students while enhancing their cognitive skills. Further, Dr. Deepak Devgan (Co-Convenor) highlighted that the purpose of Comm-Fest 2025is to provide a platform to the students to refurnish themselves in the bright shining colors of Khalsa College and it brought with itself a constellation of talents, plethora of events and miraculous minds.
Comm-Fest featured a diverse range of competitive events, including Ad-Mad Show, Debate, Poster Making, Photography, Rangoli, Solo Dance, Group Dance, Budding Entrepreneurs/Business Plan Competition and B-Plan Pitch. These events provided a dynamic platform for students to showcase their creativity, analytical skills and business acumen.
The event was judged by distinguished faculty members, namely Dr. Supinder Kaur (Head, English Department), Dr. Sawraj Kaur, Dr. Gursharan Kaur (Head, Food Science and Technology Department), Dr. Poonam Sharma, Dr. Mehtab Kaur (Head, Fine Art Department), Prof. Daljit Singh, Prof. Gurpreet Singh, f. Anudeep Kaur and Prof. Harmandeep Kaur. Dr. Ajay Sehgal from Khalsa University, Amritsar was also the guest of the event. Additionally, S. Harjit Singh served as coaches for Bhangra and Giddha performances.
The Organizing Committee comprised Prof. Reema Sachdeva, Dr. Sakshi Sharma, Dr. Manisha Behal and Prof. Pooja Puri, who worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth execution of the event. The event’s broadcasting was efficiently managed by Prof. Meenu Chopra and Dr. Navpreet Kaur.
The prizes were distributed by Principal Dr. A. K. Kahlon to the winners of the various competitions at the end. Dr. Deepak Devgan presented vote of thanks. Dr. Poonam Sharma, Dr. Aanchal Arora, Dr. Samiya, Prof. Sukhjinder Kaur, Dr. Amarbir Singh Bhalla, Prof. Amanjot Kaur, Dr. Mandeep Kaur, Prof. Suruchi Sharma, Prof. Tushar Batra, Prof. Sheetal Gupta, Dr. Harpreet Kaur and Prof. Shivali, Dr. Sarbjit Kaur, Dr. Randeep Kaur, Prof. Nidhi Thakur, Prof. Manpreet Kaur, Prof. Shehnaz, Prof. Jasleen Kaur and Prof. Anindita Kaur Kahlon were also present on this occasion. This event proved a grand success of the department. The office bearers of Commerce Society Harman Singh Dhunna (President), Amitoj Singh Sandhu (Secretary), Jasleen Kaur (Finance Secretary) worked tirelessly for the success of the event. Mr. Shashi Thakur, Ms. Deepika Sharma and Mr. Jagbir Singh also assisted throughout the event.
The event concluded on a high note, leaving participants and attendees with a sense of accomplishment and inspiration. Comm-Fest 2024-25 reaffirmed Khalsa College Amritsar’s commitment to foster academic excellence, leadership and holistic development among students.
