P.G. Department of Economics, Khalsa College Amritsar in collaboration with Institution’s Innovation Council organized a One Day Workshop on the topic “Raising Capital and Managing Finance for Startups ” on 09th April 2025 at 11:00 A.M in the Seminar Hall of the College. The main objective of the workshop was to equip the participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively secure funding, to understand different financing options and navigating the fund raising and managing process. C.A. Naiya Sachdeva, was the resource person. Dr. Supreet Kaur, Co-Cordinator of the workshop welcomed Principal, Dr. Atam Singh Randhawa, Dean Academic Affairs, Dr. Taminder Singh Bhatia, President, Institution’s Innovation Council, Dr. Gursharan Kaur, the faculty members and students. The workshop began with the divine blessings by the recitation of “Mool Mantra” by Jaskiran Kaur and Guneesha Makkar of Economics Department. Dr. Anju Sharma, Head, P.G. Department of Economics, introduced the resource person to the participants and highlighted the main theme of the workshop. The resource person was given floral welcome by the Principal and Dean Academic Affairs. After that Principal, Dr. Atam Singh Randhawa shared his views on the topic and addressed the students.
Raising capital is the one of the biggest challenges Startups face. It is a critical step for startups to grow and scale their businesses. Managing Funds effectively is other crucial aspect for Business Startups to achieve their growth goals and become successful. C.A. Naiya Sachdeva discussed various funding options available to raise capital, including venture capital, angel investors, crowdfunding and bank financing. According to her, raising capital can be challenging, and startups must be well prepared to overcome these challenges. By developing a strong business plan, building a strong team, networking and preparing for due diligence, Startups can increase their chances of successful fund raising. Resource Person also discussed the key aspects of managing funds for business startups, including financial planning, Budgeting and cash flow management. She gave valuable business startup ideas and real life examples to help students gain deeper understanding on how to manage startup finances effectively and make informed decisions about raising capital. Resource person also emphasized on the government schemes, available for financial assistance to the startups, like Startup India Seed Fund, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Stand up India Scheme, Atal Innovation Mission, The Venture Capital Assistance Scheme etc.
The resource person’s presentation was clear, concise and insightful, making complex financial concepts accessible to the audience. She gave real world examples and discussed the case studies, which added depth and relevance to the lecture. Her interactive and engaging delivery style made the lecture interesting, which encouraged audience participation and fostered a dynamic learning environment. Students and teachers interacted very enthusiastically with the resource person and their queries were very well answered by the resource person. Dr. Geetinder Mann, Co-ordinator of the workshop presented the vote of thanks. Faculty members of Economics department, Dr.Saveeta, Dr. Navjot, Dr. Seozy Bhatia, Dr. Rachhpal Singh of Economics Department were also present in the workshop.
