The Red Ribbon Club and Gender Champions Club, Khalsa College Amritsar in collaboration with Youth Welfare Services Department, Government of Punjab organized a “Poster Making and Slogan Writing Competition” on 12th November, 2024.

The Red Ribbon Club and Gender Champions Club, Khalsa College Amritsar in collaboration with Youth Welfare Services Department, Government of Punjab organized a “Poster Making and Slogan Writing Competition” on 12^th November, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the library of Department of Punjabi. Principal Dr. A.K. Kahlon was the chief guest of the event. The event aimed at inspiring students to showcase their talents, also encouraged them to express their perspectives on contemporary issues through artistic visuals and powerful slogans.

The Nodal Officer (female) of Gender Champions Club, Dr. Sawraj Kaur welcomed the guests and motivated the students to instil in their minds the importance of such events which contribute to their holistic development. Principal, Dr. A.K. Kahlon congratulated the students for their enthusiastic participation. She stated that the competition provided students with an excellent platform to express their thoughts.

Dr. Taminder Singh Bhatia (Dean Academic Affairs) addressed the participants that the event was a great success, leaving a positive impact on all the participants. Dr. Devender Singh (Registrar), Dr. Surjeet Kaur and Dr. Deepak Devgan were present to judge the competition. The topics for Poster Making and Slogan Writing Competition given to the participants were Pollution, Drug Abuse, Gender Equality and HIV Aids. Dr. Atam Singh Randhawa (Head, Department of Punjabi) appreciated the efforts of the students.

Dr. Parminder Singh, Nodal Officer (male) of the Gender Champions club proposed a vote of thanks and highlighted that the club organises such events to acquaint the students with the awareness of social issues.

On this occasion, Dr. Poonam Sharma, Dr. Ajay Sehgal, Dr. Nidhi Sabharwal, Dr. Mini Salwan and Prof. Amritpal Kaur were present to motivate the students. Prof. Meenu Chopra, Dr. Harpreet Kaur Mehrok and Dr. Navpreet Kulaar took over the charges for broadcasting the event. Gender Champions and representative of Red Ribbon Club Kiranpreet Kaur, Gurasees Singh, Harman, Shubh Sen, Sanjana, Tamanna, Sanjana, Gurbaz Singh, Kirti Arora, Prabhjot Kaur, Sharanjit Kaur and other members of club were also present. 

Around 30 students from various departments of the college participated in the competition. The winners of the competition were Harmandeep Kaur (B.com.H-I) got first position, Inderpreet Kaur (B.A.-S.S. I) got second position, Taran Sabharwal (BPT 2^nd Year) got third position, Taranpreet Kaur (BCA-I) and Gautam (BCA I) got consolation prizes. To honour the creativity and hard work of participants, the prize distribution ceremony for this event will be held during the college’s upcoming Book Fair.
