Khalsa College Amritsar holds Seminar on Trends in Language and Linguistics
March 14, 2022. The Post Graduate Department of English, of the historic Khalsa College Amritsar. held an extension lecture on the Trends in Language and Linguistics. Prof. (Dr.) Prasunnanshu Director, Centre for Linguistic Justice and Endangered Language and distinguished Professor of National Law University, New Delhi, graced the occasion as the resource person. Dr. Mehal Singh the principal of the College presided the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The seminar commenced with the recitation of College Shabad. The guest was introduced by Prof. Malkinder Singh and welcomed by Prof. Supninderjeet Kaur. Dr. Mehal Singh in his address emphasized on the need of language studies for the betterment of the social life. He also mentioned the different levels of meaning hidden in a literary text through language.
Dr. Prasunnanshu in his lecture stressed on the interdisciplinary importance of language studies and literature. He illuminated the audience with the illustrations from the various disciplines where language can be studied to attain truth and knowledge. He appraised about the various fields to make career in linguistics. He also answer the queries.
Prof. Parneet Kaur Dhillon presented the Vote of thanks. Prof. Supninderjit Kaur. Prof. Malkinder Singh, Dr. Sawant Singh Manto, Prof. Daljeet Singh, Dr. Mamta Mahendru, Prof. Vijay Bernard, Dr. Jaswinder Kaur, Prof. Pooja Kalia , Prof. Gurpreet Singh, Prof. Saurav Megh, Prof. Harsh Salaria etc faculty members were present on this occasion.
