Cultural Activities


Department of Youth Welfare and Cultural Activities provides a platform to the students to present and to groom their talents and leadership qualities. It also plays a significant role in preserving and promoting rich cultural heritage of Punjab among the Youth.

College is one of the pioneer institutes which contributed in the development of theatre in Punjab. It has produced various theatre personalities like Bhisham Sahni, Gurdial Singh Phul, Dr. Harcharan Singh, Kewal Dhaliwal and Dr. Atamjeet Singh to name a few. In present times theatre and TV artists like Rajiv Thakur, Chandan Parbhakar, Rajive Dhingra, Emanuel, Rajbir Kaur, Mannat Singh, Mukesh Vohra, Ramesh, Dinesh and Mandeep Ghai are performing in various serials and TV shows. Eminent folk singers like Amrinder Gill and Lakhwinder Vadali, Ranjeet Bawa and J Star groomed their talent on the stage of the college.
College has also represented State of Punjab in National Youth Festival at various times in Folk Dance and Theatre and it is the only College of Punjab which has won 1st position in National Youth Festival in Folk Dance category. It is also two times runners up. Khalsa College has also won 1st position in Theatre in Punjab Interversity Youth Festival. It has won Champion and runners up trophy in Youth Zonal Festivals for number of times. College Bhangra Team and Folk orchestra team have performed in various films and world meets and has toured various countries in the recent past.
Department of Youth Welfare and Cultural Activities has many achievements to its credit. This year the College won 1st Runners up trophy at Zonal Youth Festival of Guru Nanak Dev University.
College participated in 31 events and won 21 position in all which include - Jhumer, Gidha, Bhangra, Gazal, Vaar, Kawishri, Folk song, Folk, orchestra, Classical instrument, Rangoli, Cartooning, Clay Modelling, On the Spot Painting, Collage, Poster Making, Photography, One Act Play, Mimicry, Fancy Dress, Quiz and Elocution. College won eleven positions in Inter Zonal Festival out of 15 in which it participated. College Jhoomer team won Ist positions in Interversity Youth Festivals organized by LPU, Punjab Kala Parishad and Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar. Apart from this, College Dance & theatre teams have given performances in National Tourism Conference, Delhi; Virsa Vihar, Amritsar; College Alumni Meet, Shastri Sangeet Sammelan, Amritsar, Social Street Plays and at DD Jalandhar.
For grooming young talent, the College organized 45 day Theatre Workshop alongwith 'Dastak Group' under the sponsorship of Union Cultural Ministry and Pedilite Fine Art Workshop. The College also organized Tian Festival, Diwali exhibition, Baisakhi Mela and Inter College Poster and Photography Competitions.
