Cultural Activities


 

Department of Youth Welfare and Cultural Activities provides a platform to the students to present and to groom their talents and leadership qualities. It also plays a significant role in preserving and promoting rich cultural heritage of Punjab among the Youth.

 

College is one of the pioneer institutes which contributed in the development of theatre in Punjab. It has produced various theatre personalities like Bhisham Sahni, Gurdial Singh Phul, Dr. Harcharan Singh, Kewal Dhaliwal and Dr. Atamjeet Singh to name a few. In present times theatre and TV artists like Rajiv Thakur, Chandan Parbhakar, Rajive Dhingra, Emanuel, Rajbir Kaur, Mannat Singh, Mukesh Vohra, Ramesh, Dinesh and Mandeep Ghai are performing in various serials and TV shows. Eminent folk singers like Amrinder Gill and Lakhwinder Vadali, Ranjeet Bawa and J Star groomed their talent on the stage of the college.

 

This department organises Talent Hunt Programme and prepare teams in different cultural events to perform in University and Inter-University Youth Festivals. The department has done commendable job in preserving Theatre and Folk Arts among the youth. Department is proud to have provided spring-board for the famous personalities like Amrinder Gill, Lakhwi nder Vadali, Ranjeet Bawa, Kewal Dhaliwal, Rajiv Thakur, Chandan Parbhakar to name the few.

 

 

In 2018-19, college students achieved new heights as they won five National and several State Level positions in different Youth Festivals.

 

College Folk Dance team won first position in National Inter-versity Folk Dance Competition in Delhi and Second position in National Winter Carnival at Manali.

 

A College Student won Gold Medal in "Gurmat Sangeet Pratyogita 2019" organized by Punjabi University Patiala. The theatre team of the college represented GN DU in North Zone Inter-versity Youth Festival and National Youth Festival and Akshdcep Singh won llnd position in Minicry in both Festivals .

 

College also won champion Trophy in 4th Khalsa College Youth Festival.

 

The Department organised Inter Department Youth Festival "Raunak 2019" from April 1-4, 2019.

 

The Department organised "Religious Competitions" in February 2019 to mark 550th Avtar Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
